Days 1 and 2: Milan to Venice... and a few stops in between!

Well, well, best laid plans… our flight from Victoria was delayed therefore Air Canada had to re-route us. Due to the summer being such a busy time to travel, they couldn’t get us all on the same flights. Jim and I were sent via Air Canada to Vancouver, then Frankfurt. The other six flew to Vancouver on a different flight and then via Lufthansa to Frankfurt. We all met up and boarded our flight to Milan. The other groups we are to be partnered with arrived much earlier and so they went ahead to Verona with our Tour Director, Fabiana. A driver and bus met us at the Milan airport and drove the 2 hours from Milan to Verona to join the rest of the group. Quite a busy day, and although we are tired, we are all looking forward to a fabulous adventure.
In Verona, Fabiana gave us a quick orientation and we had free time to look at the street market, buy a gelato (it may become a daily ritual...), peek into a local church, look  along the narrow alleyways that could tell thousands of stories of the history of the area, as well as a quick visit to Juliette's Balcony! Basically, it was just nice to breathe in some fresh air. We were all very tired but everyone certainly put on a "brave face," that is something we will need to do on some of our verrrrry long days with temperatures in the mid 30C.
After a late (8pm) dinner we are ready for bed and another full day tomorrow. From the 4th floor restaurant, we saw a beautiful sunset over the Italian Alps!
Parents - your daughters are safe, happy and looking forward to an amazing several days of adventures - thank you for allowing them to participate in this tour to Italy. Only two pictures today - the girls looking at kiosks in the street market and a building with pretty balconies.
Arrivederci...
