I also attended the Royal Canadian Geographical Society's Fellows dinner. I enjoyed it much more than last year's when I was so nervous about receiving my Innovation in Teaching Award. This year I could relax and try to "spot the stars" of Canadian geography... there were too many to name!
The photos below were taken at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier (National War Memorial) near Parliament Hill. I brought my poppy from BC and placed in on this humbling memorial. It laid alongside hundreds of others that had been placed there the previous day - Remembrance Day.
The Clock Tower on the centre block of the Parliament Buildings.
My version of being a voyageur (going for a run along the trail in -5 degree temperatures!).
One evening a few of us headed to a local Chapters store where the Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield was doing a book signing. He was lovely to chat to and took the time to ask me my name when he shook my hand... I was a bit excited but think I got my name right :-)
